What We Do
Our Mission
The Summit County Mental Wellness Alliance is a community coalition of government entities, nonprofits, private businesses and citizens working to enhance the quality of life for all Summit County residents by improving community awareness of mental health & substance abuse, increasing access to effective treatment, and increasing effective prevention efforts.
Our Strategic Plan
Goal 1
Expand community access to mental health & substance abuse programs and services in Summit County.
Goal 2
Increase prevention and education around mental health & substance abuse in Summit County.
Goal 3
Ensure success and sustainability of mental health & substance abuse programs/services in Summit County.
Goal 4
Ensure equity of mental health & substance abuse programs and services for Latino Community members.
Goal 5
Establish systems to support life during recovery and reintegration into the community.
Our History
May 2016
County-wide mental health assessment conducted by Summit County Health Department

November 2016
Mental Health Assessment results presented to Summit County Council and Park City Council

January 2017
Summit County Mental Wellness Alliance created to organize various mental health and substance abuse recovery efforts already going on in the county. Numerous working groups are created to being work implementing the strategic directives.

February 2017
Community Planning Meeting held at Park City Hospital

April 2017
Summit County Health Department hires Aaron Newman as the new Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coordinator

June 2017
Executive Committee of six members formed to provide an additional streamlined layer
November 2017
Summit County Council ratifies and approves the Mental Wellness Alliance Strategic Plan.

January 2018
Planning and implementation continue through 2018 for this year-long process of systemic change in the whole county.

November 2018
Latino Affairs hosts the first Latino Behavioral Health Fair.

September 2019
Groundbreaking partnership with the University of Utah’s Health U Behavioral that significantly increases the amount of mental health professionals available in our community for both adults and students.

October 2019
All schools in Summit County have full behavioral health coverage.
